International Politics and Conflict Resolution
As Welbeck is the Defence sixth form college, it is important that our students are given the opportunity to broaden their perspectives on international events of both an historical and contemporary nature. International politics and conflict resolution will cover events from the First and Second World Wars, events within the Cold war, Korea, Vietnam, the Falklands conflict, Bosnia, the Gulf Wars, Northern Ireland, Israel and Palestine and the British commitment in Afghanistan.
For all of our students their understanding and knowledge of international politics will be an integral part of their future careers be it writing essays during initial officer training, submitting papers at staff college and being able to disseminate the political picture to the men and women they will eventually command in the theatre of operations they are working in.
Students will be required to take ownership of a particular area of interest and present their research and findings to initially their peers and eventually a wider college audience, thus enhancing their confidence and ability to present topics of interest in a professional and structured manner.
