Music Skills
Music is an important part of life at Welbeck. A large number of students are involved in learning and performing as well as those who simply play music for recreational purposes. For those of sufficient ability to consider taking examination grades in instrument playing (or singing) or the musical theory, there is the possibility for this to be incorporated into the enrichment programme in the upper sixth year. Lessons would be arranged with the music staff and probably take place in the evenings or General Activity time. Timetable time would be available for instrumental practice, theory lessons or for further study in lieu of time used up in the evenings.
Any students who would like to consider this option should talk to the Academic Vice Principal. A decision will be made depending on the suitability of the student and the availability of music teaching staff. There would be a requirement to enter for the examination and progress would need to be monitored throughout the year. Some performance in some of the higher grades may carry UCAS points.
